避難所(ひなんじょ)Hinanzyo is the place where you evacuate when a natural disaster occurs. Evacuation shelters where you go are different depending on disasters. For example, when an earthquake occurs, you should evacuate to a building or plaza. The building must be strong enough. Nothing should be fallen from above the plaza. When a flood or tsunami occurs, you should evacuate to higher ground which is not flooded.

ハザードマップ(はざーどまっぷ)Hazard map is a map which predicts the damage of natural disaster and describes the predicted damaged area and the extent of the damage. Hazard maps are created for each natural disaster. They show evacuation shelters and evacuation routes. You can find these maps on the municipalities’ websites, so let’s check your municipality’s website!
