Many home appliances sold in Japan are written in Kanji. It may seem to be difficult to use washing machine. Let’s learn the meaning of indicates and how to use washing machine!
Button
- 入（いり iri）：On
This button is pressed when turning on the power.
- 切（きり kiri）：Off
This button is pressed when turning off the power.
- 水量（すいりょう suiryou）：Amount of water
This button is pressed when adjusting the amount of water.
- コース（こーす kousu）：Course
This button is pressed when choosing course (Automatic, Quick etc.)
- スタート（すたーと sutaato）：Start
This button is pressed when starting washing after choosing course and the amount of water.
- 一時停止（いちじていし ichijiteishi）：Stop
This button is pressed when you want to stop washing. For example, you use this button when you put additional clothes during “washing”. This button is the same button as start button.
- 予約（よやく yoyaku）：Timer
You push this button when you want to start in several hours later. You can adjust the starting time by pressing this button several times.
Courses
- おまかせ（omakase）：Automatic
Basically, almost of all clothes can be washed by this course.
- すすぎ１回（すすぎいっかい susugi ikkai）：One rinse cycle
Washing machine usually rinse two times. If you choose this course, you can save the time and water.
- お急ぎ(おいそぎ oisogi)：Speed wash
This course shortens the time of washing clothes. It is useful when you are in hurry.
- つけおき（tsukeoki）：Soak
This course is chosen when the stains on clothes are strong. Clothes soak in soapsuds longer than other courses.
- 毛布（もうふ moufu）Blanket
This course is chosen when you wash large objects like blankets.
- 手洗い（てあらい tearai）： Hand wash
This course is chosen when you wash delicate clothes.
- 部屋干し（へやぼし heyaboshi）Drying indoors
This course dry clothes longer than other courses. It takes longer time to wash clothes in total. This course is useful when you dry your clothes in your room.
- 送風乾燥(そうふうかんそう soufuukansou):Drying
This course is chosen when you want to dry clothes.
process
- 洗い（あらい arai）：Wash
When clothes are washed, the red light next to the letter 「洗い」turns on. During this process, you can put in additional clothes if you push 「一時停止（いちじていし）」 button.
- すすぎ（susugi）Rinse
When clothes are rinsed, the red light next to the letter 「すすぎ」 turns on.
- 脱水（だっすい dassui）：Dry
When clothes are dried, the red light next to the letter 「脱水」turns on.
Indication
- 予約（よやく yoyaku）：Timer
You push 「予約」button, this letter on the display turns to red.
- 時間後(じかんご jikango)：…hours later
You push 「予約」button, this letter on the display turns to red. The figure on the display means how many hours later the washing begins.
- 残り（約）分（のこり（やく）ふんnokori (yaku) hun）：Time remaining (approx.) min.
During washing clothes, this letter on the display turns red. The figure on the display means how many minutes later the washing finish.
- ふたロック（ふたろっく futarokku）：Cover lock
Except for “washing” process, we cannot open washing machine’s cover. At that time, the red light next to the letter 「ふたロック」turns on.
- チャイルドロック（ちゃいるどろっく chairudorokku）：Child lock
Cover also can be locked in washing process so that children do not open the cover. Push コース」button for five seconds, and you can lock or unlock the cover. If the cover is locked, the red light next to the letter 「ふたロック」turns on.
How to use
1.Press 「入」button.
2.Press 「コース」 button and choose the course.
3.Press 「水量」button and choose the amount of water.
4.Put in detergent and softener depending on the amount of water.
5.Press 「スタート」button.
