Kobe Lantern Festival 2023 will be held

Kobe Foreigners Friendship Center (KFC)  will hold KOBE Lantern Festival 2023 cooperating with Futaba Gakusha on October 13th (Fri) and 14th (Sat) in 2023 from 16:30 to 20:30. About 1000 various sizes of lanterns will light Shinnagata, and Oyako Ennichi (a fair for children and their parents), where children enjoyed booths such as “Rubber Band Gun”, “Super Ball Scooping”, and “Senbonbiki(one thousand strings lottery) will be held. Furthermore, we will have stage programs such as a Chindon performance (a traditional Japanese entertainment performance).

A lot of people including those who are learning Japanese, teaching Japanese at Futaba International Center and local people painted original designs on the lanterns. Ukrainian refugees also painted on the lanterns. You can enjoy international lanterns. Also, there are food stalls in the Oyako Ennichi booth. Cuisine of various countries are sold. You can enjoy dishes that you won’t be able to taste at the usual Japan festivals.

Kobe Lantern Festival is not an ordinary festival. It started with the desire for foreigners living in Kobe to actively participate and contribute to the community. The scale of the event grows year by year. More than 2,300 people enjoyed this event last year and it is one of the biggest events in this town. In this year, we will cooperate with more people than last year and we aim to make the festival enjoyable by as many people as possible.
